Spreading the News!

As soon as I started this new position it was important to me that I communicated effectively and consistently with the teachers I am supporting.  Much of what I do is reacting to issues that arise and often times it's behind the scenes.  I wanted a way for teachers to know that just because I'm not visible all the time, I'm still working hard to support them and each student we have.

So I decided to carry over a practice from the classroom: monthly newsletters.  Each month I send out a newsletter with a message from myself, news that is coming up for the month, important dates, and a list of what has happened in the counselor's office for the previous month.

Newsletter done, but I need to tell teachers something more often than once a month.  I decided to send out weekly emails.  These emails have information for the week (dates, meetings, appointments, etc.) as well as fun tidbits on classroom management, bullying, tattling, techy links, etc.

My hope is that through these weekly and monthly communications my teachers know what I'm doing as well as what I can do to help them.  Getting my services out there more consistently will hopefully help me get into the classroom and work with small groups more to support my teachers as best as I can!
